Some of the more commonly caught fish are even difficult to catch depending on how the wind is blowing, the temperature, and the seasonality of the fish. We always promote catch and release on all our fish, but if clients want to catch a fish to eat, there are certain types, times, and sizes when you can catch a fish and filet it. For example, you cannot catch a saw fish and expect to eat it, where as you can catch trout, mangrove snapper, triple tail if they are the correct size and you catch up to the limit on the particular type of fish. Here is a list of rules and regulations for fish in the state of Florida https://gulfcouncil.org/wp-content/uploads/commercial-regulations.pdf and https://myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/commercial/

What a catch! Sheepshead, Triple Tail and Snapper. Fish caught on SWFL Charters

Southwest Florida Charters likes to engage in backwater fishing and inshore fishing. The advantage of these trips allows us to jump from different locations to find the best fishing around. Certain fish are located in areas where there are artificial reefs/wrecks created. Others are more inclined to hide in the mangrove roots in the back bay or on certain flats. It all depends on the type of fish we are targeting and the trip you picked for your fishing excursion. It is important to trust your captain and know that they will work hard to get you the best experience fishing around our Gulf. Our captains at Southwest Florida Charters are experienced in the area. They have been fishing for many years in the same waters and know the best places to find these fish!
